Build a course in the workflow builder

A course is the order your modules are taken in, plus everything that happens between them — waits, emails, a choice of path, a pass mark. This builds one from nothing.

  1. Open the flow

In a course, choose ⛓ Workflow. It takes over the screen — the graph needs the room. A new course opens on a pattern picker: Straight through, Choose your trade, Quiz gate. Pick the closest one and edit it; starting from an empty canvas is the slow way.

  2. Put your modules in order

Modules you have built sit in the left panel under Not in the flow yet. Drag one onto the canvas to make it a step; drop it on a connector to insert it between two. The numbers on the nodes are the order learners meet them.

A straight-through course — Start, Tools & PPE, Isolate supply, End — is all most courses ever need.

  3. Set what a step does

Click a node to open its settings on the right. Four things worth knowing: Access (draft, or live by link), What happens next (pass mark and where a fail goes), Learner’s card (the heading and image they see), and Who can see it (everyone, or named groups).

  4. Let learners take different paths

Add a Decision step where the job differs — by trade, by site, by role. Give each path a name in the learner’s words, then set Where the paths rejoin so the rest of the course is built once rather than twice.

  5. Space it out over time

A Wait step holds learners for a set number of days — useful for refreshers and for spacing a long induction. Turn on Send the link as a campaign and the step emails them when the wait is up, using its own heading and image as the subject and body.

  6. Check it, then go live

Preview runs the whole flow as a learner, and Preview from here on a node starts at that point. Before publishing, read the checks at the bottom of the panel — they catch the two real mistakes: a step nothing connects to, and a module that is in the course but not in the flow.
