PGDB CPD: how it works for plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers

In New Zealand, every registered plumber, gasfitter and drainlayer has to complete CPD each year to renew their licence. The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board sets and delivers it, and its online programme runs on Howio.

If you're a plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer

Your CPD is on the Board's website. Sign in at the Trade Login and choose the CPD tile. Howio provides the software behind the online programme, and the Board is the place to go for anything about your licence or your CPD record.

How the Board runs CPD on Howio

Practitioners sign in through the Board's own website and go straight into their CPD, with no second account to set up. They work through the modules in a browser, on whatever device they have, at a time that suits the job they're on. The fee and the identity check sit in the same journey, and each module is recorded as it's finished, so the Board can see where the register is up to at any point.

The Board has run its CPD on Howio for four licensing years.

If you run CPD for another register or membership

The same setup works for any organisation with people outside its own payroll who have to complete something each year. We can show you how the Board's programme is put together and what it would take to run yours.

If you run a plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying business

Training you build for your own team is separate from licence CPD and doesn't count towards it. You can use the same software for inductions, your own way of doing common jobs and safety refreshers.
