What personal data does how.io store?

When you visit the how.io website or use our service, we collect personal data. Personal data refers to peoples information that directly or indirectly indicates who you are. We collect the following personal information from our customers, their learners and some website visitors.

  • Company Name and Address
  • Job Role
  • Phone Number
  • IP Address
  • Device Type
  • Course Enrolment Information

How does how.io use personal data?

We do not collect sensitive information such as location information (GPS), racial or ethnic origin, political opinions and health data.

Why do you collect this data?

We use your personal data to operate our services and to manage our relationship with you. Specifically this is to:

  • Identity and secure your account. When you or your learners sign into our system we can identify your account, assigned courses and learning records in accordance to our terms of service.
  • Communicate with you, such as providing you with information requested on our solution and any operational communication, like updates to our systems and services.
  • Support you: This may include assisting with technical support issues or other questions about our service by email, in-app support or phone.
  • Market to you: In addition to sending you marketing communications, we may also use your personal data to display targeted advertising to you online – through our own websites and services or through third party websites and their platforms.
  • Analyse and enhance our services. We may use the personal data at an aggregate level to analyse and enhance our services.

When is personal data collected?

We collect this information when you sign up to our services, when your learners access our services or provided to us at request from our website. The personal information we receive can come from these sources. When you visit our websites or sign up for an account we will directly ask your for your information. If you don’t want to provide us with personal data, you don’t have to, but it might mean you can’t access parts of our service We collect some information about you automatically when you visit our websites or application such IP address and device type. We also collect information when you navigate through our websites and services, including what pages you looked at and what links you clicked on. On occasion we may collect personal data about you from trusted third parties marketing tools.

Do we share your information personal information?

As a practice we do not share your personal data nor does how.io sell the personal data we collect to third parties. However in our day to day operations we use some third party service providers and partners who we share some data with to enable us to support our service and provide functionality for our website and marketing services. We may also share your information with regulators, law enforcement bodies, government agencies, courts or other third parties where we think it’s necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights. Where possible and appropriate, we will notify you of this type of disclosure. In the case of an acquisition or merger of our service we may share personal information as part of the due diligence process.

Data Retention

We will retain your personal data for as long as we have a relationship with you and for a period of time afterwards in accordance with our data retention policies and practices. After that period we will ensure its deleted.

Please note that the how.io will not operate efficiently if you refuse to accept cookies. We also use Google Analytics to monitor how you use our website and application. Google Analytics collects information anonymously and generates reports detailing information such as the number of visits, where visitors generally came from, how long they stayed on the site, and which pages they visited. Google Analytics places several persistent cookies on your computer’s hard drive.

You and your learners rights

It’s your personal data and you have certain rights relating to it. You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, request a copy of your personal data, or ask us to restrict processing your personal data or delete it. The same applies to your learners data, this person has the right to obtain from you a copy of the personal information that you hold for them, and to require you to correct errors in the personal information that you process for them if it is inaccurate or incomplete. Your leaners also have the right at any time to require that you delete their personal information. As your service provider we will support you with access to the personal information we process on your behalf.
