Answer feedback, retries and explanations
How answers are marked, how many attempts learners get, and where the explanation shows.
1 min read
When a learner chooses Check answer, the answers stay in the same order and are marked:
- Filled green tick: a right answer they picked.
- Filled red cross: a wrong answer they picked.
- Outlined green tick: a right answer they didn't pick, labelled Correct — you didn't pick it.
Answers they didn't pick that weren't correct are dimmed. A chip above the answers gives the result, for example Correct, Not quite, or on a multiple-answer question a count such as Correct — 3 of 3.
Retries
You can give learners more than one attempt. On a wrong answer their pick is marked, the right answer is held back until the last attempt, and Try again appears under the answers. They can still move on with the next arrow.
Explanations
A question's explanation shows on its own page, straight after the marked answers. It can be a line or several paragraphs; long text scrolls inside the page. The up arrow takes learners back to the marked answers.
Your options
For each question you can choose:
- whether to show the correct answer straight away or only after the last attempt
- how many attempts learners get
- whether the explanation shows after a right answer as well as a wrong one
